Dear Greg,
My whole life, I prayed for the man I was going to marry.....from the time I was a little girl, I remember being down on my knees and imagining who it was I would marry. I dreamed about a man who would be loving, kind, handsome, fun, a great dad to my many babies, loves the Lord, intelligent, hated sports like me, loved to sing, sensitive and loved me with all of his heart......OK, so 10 out of 11 isn't so bad :) Well, I guess you do like to sing.....even if you are tone-deaf ;) When I was too young to pray for you, my parents were. They also prayed for you your entire life even though you couldn't have known that many people were praying for you!
When I met you, I met the perfect man for me.....God answered all of our prayers beyond what we could have hoped. You aren't perfect, but you are perfect for ME. Good thing too, because a perfect man would require a perfect woman and I certainly am not that!
I thought I loved you the day you asked me to be your wife.....and I really thought I loved you the day I walked down the aisle to your tear-filled eyes. I really really thought I loved you when you became a daddy....three times over. But here we are, 9 1/2 years after we got married and 10 years since we first met and I know that now I love you even more now than those other times.
Every day when our kids scream in excitement that you are home, I love you more. When you come home exhausted from work, I love you more because you are providing for your family, and allowing me to have my dream job and stay home with your chickies. When I hear your off-key voice singing praises to Jesus, I love you more as you make your joyful noise :) I love you more every time we pray together.
You are my best friend. Even when I am tired from a long day and forget to give you a kiss when you come home, I love you. You are beyond what I could have imagined the day you asked me to marry you. You are better. I guess all that praying paid off :)
Love,
Me
Oh. My. Gosh. We knew each other 6 months from first meeting to wedding. Wow... ohmigosh. Um, how did anyone react to the quickness...? My family still hasn't warmed up to Ethan. At.All. :-(
ReplyDeleteI think it helped my family because my mom and dad met and married in 3 months....and they;'ve been together for nearly 40 years! I guess when you know you know :) We met and were engaged 4 months later and wedding 5 months after that. I don't know.....I never had a doubt!
ReplyDeleteAh. Cool :-) It probably DIDN'T help my family that my sister accepted a proposal after 3 weeks... married in a few months, and separated after another 9. I agree--when you know, you know!
ReplyDeleteSniff, sniff, sniff!!!! Sooo sweet!

I remember when Greg accepted Christ in HS. So neat to see how God prepared him for you and you for him! :o)
