Beauty

"Beauty is not caused. It is."
-Emily Dickinson

Weather in the south west in May is warm....cool and beautiful in the mornings and hot by the afternoons, cooling off with beautiful breezes as the sun sets. When we first learned we were moving out here from the midwest, we got a number of reactions.....everything from "what a gorgeous place to live" to "wow.....what an ugly, barren desert place I would never set foot in."

I am on a mission to find beauty in my life.....in my family, in my home, in my town, in the small things in life. Currently I am keeping a list. I am up to #101 with so many more to go :)

It is altering my perspective on so many of God's rich blessings.

Saturday we had a gorgeous afternoon in our new sundresses in our backyard. We got the most gorgeous bouquets of roses. The petals swam on the breeze and the smell wafted throughout the air. In the background my dog barked echoing the neighbor dog. I could hear the bird wings rustling as they fought for food on our feeder. The sun was hot, quickly dissipating in the abundant shade. My daughter laughed. I took pictures. We gathered some rosebuds, being careful for the thorns and put them in an antique milk bottle for the table. We placed on tiny bud in an old medicine bottle. By evening the petals were totally unfurled and my daughter carried it around with her all day to have a speck of beauty always within her grasp. She arranged them on the table with my antique Christmas balls surrounding them. Why? "because they are beautiful" she said.

A moment caught in time that will forever live in my memory.

Try to capture some beauty every day. It will change your life.....
