Family Fridays- Mama turns 32 :)

My mom told me that I am still young as long as I look forward with pleasure to my birthday. So, I guess that means that I am still young! When I turned 30 I chose to embrace this new-found place in my life and this first 2 years has been a rocky start.......but mostly good! I thought my 20's were tough and so many things happened then that it was true. They were hard. But, my 30th year was the hardest of my life......when I gave birth to a son who almost didn't live.

However, my 31st year was AMAZING! I can only hope as much for my 32nd year! I have since learned that each decade is going to have some very high highs and some very low lows. In all, I hope that my 30's end up being more high than low!

When I was younger, I would look at people in their 30's and actually think how old they were. I remember doing it. When I was at Cedarville, for Homecoming weekend the alumni would all flood onto campus with their strollers and fanny packs, diaper bags and lollipops stuck to their shoes. I would *sigh* and think "those poor people. Their lives are basically over!" Now I am one of those people that I so pitied :)

Then again, when I was younger and I thought about ME being in my 30's, I pretty much imagined the life that I have now......being a stay-at-home mommy and married to a great guy, living in a great house. I was telling Ellie that I got all those wishes that I wished upon a star when I was a little girl. Wishes do come true!

I felt very celebrated last weekend, when we chose to celebrate my birth. It was the PERFECT family birthday for me. My husband and kids made me my FAVORITE birthday pie. It is called "surprise pie." The add fruit to it (when I was younger it was always kiwis and strawberries), but this time they each got to pick one. WEIRD choices but I have to tell you the pie was DELISH! Ellie chose blackberries and Tyler chose.....mango :) I honestly loved it!

They got me some amazing gifts! My husband got me a new body pillow and Ellie chose some really fuzzy white material for me to make a cover for it. I had it done in 10 minutes :) I also got a new outfit and a new self-healing mat for my sewing. My husband listens really well! The kids were so proud to share things with me! They are all the presents I could ask for anyway.

Sunday my husband treated me to my favorite meal: SUSHI! Because we live in the SW, everything here is made with green chilies....including the sushi rolls! They have become our favorite!

Then Sunday afternoon, I relaxed and my husband cleaned the WHOLE house......oh yes. He did.

I felt quite celebrated......and at least once a year, that is a very nice feeling! Here's to my 32nd year being the best year yet!
