Today we are making Tissue Paper Flower Balls! I did them for Ellie's room and she and I both LOVE them!
twine
tissue paper of various colors
scissors
large safety pins or stapler
1. Step 1 is to take about 8-10 layers of tissue paper and fold it, accordion style
2. Find the middle of your fan and either staple it, or use a large safety pin to hold it. I used the safety pin because I was able to tie the twine to it and it is totally hidden when the flower is finished.
3. Now take your scissors and round of each end to look like a petal!
4. Tie a long piece of fishing line (to make it invisible when hanging), or a fun piece of yarn, twine or string to the safety pin for hanging. You will trim it later.
5. Lastly, layer by layer pull each piece of tissue apart. The more layers you have, the more dense your flower will be. Fiddle with it until it looks how you want it to look. Hang and then whala....done!
I am QUITE thrilled with the final product. When Ellie walked into her bedroom, her exact words were "MOM! I totally love this ALL!!!"
We have a VERY busy 2 year old whom we do not trust with our baby yet, so Ellie gets to share her room with the baby for at least a year. We made the change, but did not put any of her things on the walls. It was basically a bare room. I am having fun decorating it again and decorating Tyler's room as well. I plan on doing some posts about how the decorating is going. In Ellie's room, the inspiration began with her quilt that I handmade as my second-ever quilting project. I had seen a quilt very similar in Pottery Barn Kids (get their catalogue if you want inspirational ideas even if it is too pricey for you!) I then fashioned this quilt for her and I still totally love it. You can't really see the colors, but it is pink, yellow, lavender and dark purple. The curtains are the same colored sheers with flowers all over them. I think the Tissue Paper Balls compliment it all quite nicely!
More later on this subject.....kids rooms.....something I just LOVE!
By the way....please pray for me. Thank you. This is quite serious. I appreciate you all.
Babe, your mother and I pray for you every day. We know our Lord is walking with you and Greg through this whole ordeal. We also know that God can heal in spite of all the suffering you have had to endure. We love you very much and want you to know that the Lord Jesus loves you more than any of us can imagine and is holding you right in the palm of His hand. Love, Dad
